Florida’s Cover Florida Plans

The Cover Florida plans have come and gone. If you are on this page looking for the plans then you have not been keeping up or someone told you about them. I suggest that if someone told you to look for a plan offered by the state of Florida, you should find someone else to give you advice.

The plans were an attempt by the former governor to provide a guaranteed issue health insurance plan. Unfortunately, they were never provided real health insurance. They were limited benefit plans.

Cover Florida plans were “limited” benefit medical plans.

  1. The plans were for people who have not had health insurance for at least 6 months.

  2. They did not cover any pre-existing conditions for at least one year.

  3. They did not cover brand name prescriptions. Only the cheap prescriptions you can already get for four bucks at Walmart.

  4. United HealthCare’s plan was only covering10 days in the hospital paying a maximum of $2,000 a day. There was no surgery coverage.

Not sounding so great is it.

If you have not had health insurance for at least 6 months and cannot obtain health insurance due to a pre-existing condition, go to www.healthcare.gov There is a federal plan available.

If you need something in the meantime to carry you through until the 6 months have passed, call me and I will give you an excellent mini-medical type plan.
