It does not matter
Florida group dental plans are generally less expensive than individual, private coverage. Plus, the employer does not have to contribute to the cost of the plan. It can be completely voluntary.

Waiting Periods - A Trick of the Trade
Most group dental plans have waiting periods for major procedures (like root canals). But, there are ways to reduce this waiting period time and still get the coverage you need.
Our better PPO dental plans have a feature called "takeover". This means that you will get credit for prior dental plan coverage and reduce the waiting period. But, what happens if you do not have dental insurance? We have a solution.
We can sign you up for a low cost PPO plan. This plan will cover all of your preventative work and still give you a considerable discount on other procedures. The advantage is that you do not have to pay for a comprehensive plan for a year or more while you are waiting to become eligible to have major dental work performed. After a year on the low cost plan you can switch plans. We will give you full credit for the time on this plan and apply it towards any waiting time requirements.
Now you can trade up to a plan that will pay for crowns, periodontal surgery, etc. I just cannot see the point of paying a lot of money for a plan they will not let you use for a year.
