Some
Basic Facts About Florida Maternity Coverage
I am going to try and make it easier for you to understand your options for maternity coverage. The are a number of approaches you can take. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
• |
There
is no such thing as a standalone Maternity Insurance plan. I know that we use the term on our website. But that is because it is a common search term. |
• |
Health Insurance with a Maternity
Rider - We will be adding a plan like this in the future. However, there is a 12 month wait before you can become pregnant and it is expensive. Unless somebody else is paying for it, it is not worth the expense. |
• |
Indemnity
Health Insurance that covers Maternity - An indemnity plan is a limited benefit plan. It pays out specific amounts towards doctors, tests, surgery and hospital stays. |
• |
Florida Group
Health Insurance that covers Maternity - If you are self-employed or have a small group, I might be able to offer you group health insurance that will completely cover maternity expenses. |
Supplement Program - this is the best possible deal you can get for Florida maternity coverage. It can be used by itself, with your existing health insurance or to pay off the deductibles on a traditional maternity rider. For more information click this link - Florida Maternity Supplement
Florida Health Insurance Plan with a Maternity Rider
Note:
This plan will have a 12 month wait before you can become pregnant.
This is a regular,
comprehensive, major medical plan. It covers doctor office visits,
prescriptions and of course hospitalization.
There is a large
choice of PPO networks availble for this plan, so chances are we
will find your doctor in one of our directories.
The maternity
portion must be taken when you sign up for the plan. Maternity benefits
have their own separate deductible of $2,500.
Once the baby
is born, if you do not plan on additional children, you can drop
the maternity rider and/or move to another plan.
Unfortunately,
if you have had complications during past deliveries (i.e., c-section),
I cannot offer you the rider. I do have other ways to cover a c-section which I can discuss with you.
Indemnity Insurance and Maternity Coverage
This is what is known
as a defined benefit plan. These plans pay fixed amounts for hospital,
doctors and lab tests. We offer a very wide variety of these type of plans. Some are better if you anticipate a c-section and others are more cost effective for a normal delivery.
